The offseason is winding down and the news has been slow, but the Minnesota Wild made some news in regards to how to watch their games during the season along with five other teams on Wednesday morning, Sept. 2. They used to be found on FanDuel Sports Network but that came to an end last season and they had to find a new home for their fans, that home will now be referred to as Wild+ which will have all the ways to watch the Wild locally and will be owned and operated by the team.
Earlier this offseason, they announced they were bringing back the same broadcast crew that was on FanDuel Sports Network but had yet to announce where to watch. Now they officially announced that fans will be able to watch their favorite players like Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, and Quinn Hughes in locally televised games on Prime Video with an Amazon account. Plus an additional subscription of $19.99 monthly or $99.99 for the full year, which is the same as several other teams, including the Columbus Blue Jackets. Nationally televised games will, of course, be separate and not included on Wild+.

For those who would rather watch on satellite, over-the-air television, or cable, that will still be an option, but the channels will be announced closer to the start of the season. However, as stated above, fans will still be able to see familiar faces on these broadcasts. The crew will consist of Anthony Lapanta, Ryan Carter, Katie Storm, Kevin Gorg, and Wes Walz, plus Lou Nanne and Alex Stalock will also be on for certain games. Finally, for any fans who are outside the local area, NHL Center Ice remains an option, as it has in the past, as well as the ESPN App with NHL Power Play.
Broadcasts all over the NHL are changing, and the Wild were just one of the teams affected, but now they have a home and multiple ways to watch. The season is less than a month away from starting, and now fans know where they will be able to watch, regardless of whether they want to use Amazon or stick with their cable/satelite option once channels are announced. It’ll be interesting to see how this works for all fans involved; hopefully everything runs smoothly, and the Wild have a strong season.
