Drew Stafford to Have Player Safety Hearing

Winnipeg Jets forward Drew Stafford will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety on Monday, the league announced Sunday. The hearing will be for a high-sticking infraction against Colorado Avalanche defenseman Nick Holden on Saturday.

Stafford potted a pair of goals in the match, but was assessed a double minor on the play that forced Holden to exit the game momentarily. After repairs, Holden re-entered the game, playing 18:49. That’s about three-and-a-half minute shy of his average.

Stafford is typically not a player who is having many run-ins with “the law.” He’s not a frequently penalizes player. He entered Saturday’s game with just 14 penalty minutes.
