Jets’ Morrissey Day-to-Day with Upper-Body Injury

Winnipeg Jets’ defenseman Josh Morrissey is day-to-day with the hand/wrist injury he suffered Wednesday versus the Colorado Avalanche, as per head coach Scott Arniel. Morrissey was not present at Friday’s morning skate and it appears he will not play versus the Anaheim Ducks this evening.

Morrissey collided with the boards while attempting a body check T.J. Hughes in the dying seconds of the first period of Wednesday’s game at Canada Life Centre, and was grimacing and holding his right hand after.

He returned to the bench for the start of the second, but didn’t take any shifts. He eventually went down the tunnel and didn’t return.

Morrissey has three assists in four games this season.

Haydn Fleury will draw in versus the Ducks for his season debut and skate on the third pairing with Tyrel Bauer, who will return to the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the past two games.

Dylan Samberg will take Morrissey’s first-pairing spot alongside Dylan DeMelo, while Mario Ferraro and Neal Pionk will comprise the second pairing.
