Zdeno Chara Will Not Play Opening Night

With the Boston Bruins first game of the season just hours away, the team announced that veteran defenseman Zdeno Chara will not play with the Winnipeg Jets coming to town to start the season.

That puts the Bs defense in a bad spot with them already without Dennis Seidenberg for weeks.

Chara was injured during a preseason game against the New York Rangers. That collision with Ryan Bourque kept him from participating in more than a single preseason game.

Last season Chara found himself in 63 games, over which he scored eight goals and 12 assists.
