Jets’ Morrissey Out Day to Day With an Undisclosed injury

Winnipeg Jets’ defenseman Josh Morrissey is day to day with an undisclosed injury, as per head coach Scott Arniel.

Morrissey suffered the injury late in the third period of Saturday night’s game versus the Minnesota Wild, when he was boarded from behind by Joel Eriksson Ek.

There was no penalty assessed, much to Arniel’s chagrin. However, Morrissey’s partner Dylan DeMelo was slapped with a cross-checking minor for going after Eriksson Ek; the Wild tied the game with 22 seconds to go on the subsequent power play and later won 4-3 in overtime.

Morrissey, in a top-pairing role, has six goals and 24 assists for 30 points while averaging 24:21 of ice time in 34 games this season.

After the loss to the Wild, the Jets are just 15-17-4 to sit seventh in the Central Division, five points out of a wild-card spot, tied for second last league wide in points, and are on a five-game losing streak.

Their lives won’t get any easier — especially if they are without Morrissey — as they have to face powerhouses in the Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings on Monday and Wednesday, respectively, to close out 2025.
