KHLer Throws Stick Like Javelin for One-of-a-Kind Shootout Goal

Ak Bars Kazan (KHL) forward Vladimir Tkachyov put on a show during a team shootout contest this week. Tkachyov flipped the puck up onto his stick, almost like The Michigan Goal, except that he’s at center ice.

As he approaches the goaltender, he hurls his stick like a javelin, with the puck on the blade, over and past the goaltender. You probably haven’t seen anyone do that before, and its actual utility is pretty limited. That wouldn’t fly in a game situation.

Watch the goal below.

The 23-year-old Tkachyov is entering his fifth season with Ak Bars at the KHL level. The 2013 World Junior Championship bronze medalist scored 12 goals and 20 points in the KHL last season.
