Radim Vrbata in Contract Discussions with 4 Teams

Free agent forward Radim Vrbata is in contract discussions with four teams, according to his agent Rich Evans.

“We have been discussing the structure of a contract with four teams and hope to come to an agreement shortly,” said Evans, according to Arizona Sports’ Craig Morgan. The four teams that the veteran forward has talked to were not revealed.

After a big season with the Vancouver Canucks in 2014-15, in which he netted 31 goals and 63 points in 79 games on a line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin, Vrbata’s production dropped off exponentially in 2015-16, finding the back of the net just 13 times and accumulating 27 points.

Radim Vrbata is coming off of a two-year, $10 million deal with the Canucks, but based off of his production last season, he will likely be in for a big pay decrease.

Since breaking into the league in 2001, Vrbata has tallied 554 points in 934 games played, split between the Colorado Avalanche, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Arizona Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning and Vancouver Canucks. He has reached the 40-point mark seven times over the past 10 seasons.

The Czech winger was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche with the 212th overall pick in the seventh round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft after spending three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
