Marek Tvrdon Placed on Unconditional Waivers

The Detroit Red Wings have placed 2011 4th round draft pick Marek Tvrdon on unconditional waivers, according to Tim Wharnsby.

The move appears to be for the ends of a mutually agreed upon contract termination. Tvrdon will leave the North American game and head to Slovakia, according to Mark Monroe, who covers the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.

Tvrdon is in the final year of his entry-level deal and has had a tough time climbing the ranks in the Detroit organization. Getting his first taste of significant AHL time last season, playing 51 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, scoring 10 goals and 29 points.

This season, he’s spent the majority of his time in Toledo, where he’s the team’s second best scorer with eight goals and 21 points in 23 games.
