Tereza Vanisova’s Hat Trick Gives Charge the Win Over the Sirens 5-2

The New York Sirens hosted the Ottawa Charge on Saturday, March 22 for their fifth game of the 2024-25 Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) season. The Charge took the victory here, 5-2. They now also win the season series, taking the victory in four of the six games.

While Sarah Fillier took a seat for hooking, the Charge took advantage of the power play. Jincy Roese passed the puck at the blue line to Gabbie Hughes to keep it in the Charge’s offensive zone. She passed across the ice to Brianne Jenner, who took the shot and scored the first goal of the game with just 11 seconds left on the power play. The first period came to a close with the Charge as the only team on the board.

With nine minutes left in the second, the Sirens tied up the game. Jamie Bourbonnais passed to Ella Shelton at the blue line. Shelton skated the puck up the center of the ice and took a shot. The puck found the back of the net and the Sirens were up on the board.

With just five minutes left in the second, the Charge scored once more. Aneta Tejralova took a shot from the blue line, and Tereza Vanisova tipped the puck into the net to put the Charge on top of the scoreboard.

Just two minutes later, Vanisova scored once more. She recovered the puck off a blocked shot and skated it around the back of the net. With a wraparound shot, Vanisova gave the Charge a two-goal lead as the second period came to a close.

Two minutes into the third, the Sirens were within one goal. Bourbonnais passed to Abby Roque, who skated the puck around the back of the net. Lifting the puck with her stick, she took the shot and scored the first Michigan goal in PWHL history.

Two minutes later, Shiann Darkangelo took a shot on the net, which was blocked by Corinne Schroeder. Vanisova was in front of the net and recovered the blocked shot. She took a shot and scored her third goal of the game, netting Vanisova her second hat trick of the season.

With eight minutes left in the third, Hughes won the faceoff for the Charge. The puck went to Emily Clark, who was in front of the net. She took the shot and scored the fifth goal of the game for the visiting team. The Charge took the victory here, 5-2.
