Panthers Release David Booth From PTO

The Florida Panthers have cut veteran forward David Booth from training camp on Wednesday, according to the Miami Herald’s George Richards.

Richards added that Booth is “not ruling out the AHL but feels he’s an NHLer.”

Booth spent last season playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs where he scored seven goals and six assists through 59 games.

The soon to be 31-year-old winger has played 502 NHL games, scoring 120 goals and 111 assists. He was originally drafted by the Panthers in the 2nd round (53rd overall) of the 2004 draft.

Booth wasn’t the only veteran on PTO with the Cats. Martin Havlat was also invited to camp and remains with the team as of Wednesday.

UPDATE:
The team officially announced his release at 2:56pm. They have also reassigned Shane Harper, Michael Matheson and MacKenzie Weega to the Portland Pirates of the AHL.
