Edmonton Oilers forward Bogdan Yakimov has been loaned to HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), the team announced on Wednesday.

Yakimov, 21, was previously loaned to the KHL club during the 2015-16 regular season when he played in 11 games and tallied three goals and four points. After HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk was eliminated from the KHL playoffs, Yakimov returned to the Bakersfield Condors, the Oilers’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.
Yakimov was originally selected by the Oilers with the 83rd pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-5-inch, 232-pound forward was the 11th rated international skater in the NHL Central Scouting Service’s final rankings before his draft year. On May 8, 2014, Yakimov signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Oilers.
Yakimov made his NHL debut for the Oilers during the 2014-15 season when he appeared in one game but has played the majority of his hockey in North America in the AHL. In 93 career AHL games, he has tallied 17 goals and 43 points.
A native of Nizhnekamsk, Russia, Yakimov represented his country at the 2014 World Junior Championships and recorded two points and four penalty minutes in seven games.
