Mike Angelidis Signs With Stockton Heat

Former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Mike Angelidis has signed an AHL contract with the Stockton Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames.

Angelidis had captained the Lightning’s AHL affiliate in Syracuse, bouncing between the affiliate and the NHL club since signing a deal to join the organization in 2010.

He came undrafted into the AHL out of the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack. Now, the 31-year-old forward has accumulated 14 games of NHL experience in his career, including four games with the Bolts last year, over which he put up a goal and five penalty minutes.

In total, he has 632 AHL games to his name with 126 goals and 260 points between time with the Albany River Rats, Norfolk Admirals and Syracuse Crunch.

In order to find his way back into the NHL, he’d need to ink a deal with the Calgary Flames, as his SPC in the AHL won’t cover NHL play. Until that time, he’s a nice veteran depth signing for a franchise that is working to develop a fleet of young talent.
