Gallant, Ruff, Trotz Named Jack Adams Finalists

The NHL announced Thursday that Florida’s Gerard Gallant, Dallas’s Lindy Ruff and Washington’s Barry Trotz have been named 2016 Jack Adams finalists, honoring the best head coach in the NHL.

The award is voted on by members of the NHL Broadcasters’ Association at the end of the regular season.

Gallant led the Panthers to an Atlantic Division title and the franchise’s new record in wins (47) and points (103).

Ruff took the Stars to a Central Division and Western Conference title, taking a team with defensive struggles and finishing with the second most point in the NHL. He also won the award with the Buffalo Sabres back in 2006.

Trotz guided the Capitals to a Presidents’ Trophy, setting a club record for wins (56) and road wins (27).

The winner will be announced at the NHL Awards on June 22.
