The Connecticut Whale have re-signed goaltender Nicole Stock to a one-year contract, the team announced Saturday. The deal carries a value of $11,500.
“The coaching staff is excited to have Nicole back between the pipes for the Whale,” said head coach Heather Linstad. “She has a strong, confident presence and the team feeds off of her calm demeanor.”
Stock grabbed six regular seasons contests with the Whale, going 4-2-0 with a .929 save percentage and 2.51 goals against average. One of those four wins came in a shootout when she became the first goaltender in league history to win a shootout.
Stock also grabbed one of the Whale’s three postseason contests, as they were eliminated in the first round by the Buffalo Beauts. She will battle with Shenae Lundberg to take control of the Whale net.
Her signing comes one day before the July 31 close of NWHL free agency
