With the St. Louis Blues season underway, their prospects are also getting their seasons started across North America and overseas. Several players in the organization have already made strong early impressions with their respective teams, giving the Blues plenty to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
Justin Carbonneau has made an immediate impact in his first professional games with the Springfield Thunderbirds, while Maddox Dagenais has continued his strong offensive play with the Quebec Remparts. The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) has also seen strong starts from Colin Fitzgerald and Carter Stevens.
The Blues have prospects making an impact outside North America as well. In the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), Matvei Korotky and Dmitri Buchelnikov have both been producing for their respective teams in Russia.
Here’s a look at how each prospect has performed to start the 2026-27 season.
Maddox Dagenais
Maddox Dagenais has gotten off to a productive start in his return to the Remparts. The Blues’ 2026 first-round pick has recorded two goals and two assists through his first three games of the season.

Dagenais acquired those stats in his season debut on Sept. 26, when he scored twice and added two assists in Quebec’s 7-4 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes. He was held off the scoresheet in the Remparts’ most recent game, but his four points have him among the team’s early scoring leaders.
After scoring 30 goals and 62 points in 62 games last season, Dagenais will look to build on that production in his second season with the Remparts. His strong start is an encouraging sign for the Blues’ newest first-round pick.
Matvei Korotky
Matvei Korotky continues to establish himself as an intriguing young player in the KHL. The Blues’ 2024 seventh-round pick recorded an assist in SKA’s 6-5 loss to CSKA Moscow on Sept. 29 before adding another assist and scoring the game-winner in SKA’s 6-5 shootout victory over Admiral Vladivostok on Oct. 3.
While his shootout goal does not count toward his regular-season goal total, he was credited with an assist during the game and converted his shootout attempt to help SKA secure the win.
His continued production is worth watching as Korotky takes on a larger role in Russia’s top professional league. The Blues will be monitoring his development closely as he continues gaining experience against older competition.
Justin Carbonneau
Justin Carbonneau wasted little time making an impact in his first full professional season. The Blues’ 2025 first-round pick made his American Hockey League (AHL) debut with the Thunderbirds on Oct. 3 and recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-2 overtime win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Carbonneau opened the scoring just 3:11 into the game, scoring his first professional goal on a backhand shot in front of the net. He later assisted on T.J. Tynan’s goal in the first period, giving him two points in his professional debut.
It was an impressive first game for Carbonneau, who enters the season after scoring 51 goals and 80 points in 60 games with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada last season. The Blues will be hoping his offensive production continues as he adjusts to the professional level.
Colin Fitzgerald
Colin Fitzgerald has also been one of the more productive Blues prospects to start the season. The Soo Greyhounds forward scored twice in a 4-3 overtime win over the Sarnia Sting on Oct. 2, earning first-star honors. Then, on Saturday, he scored his third against the Flint Firebirds on the power play, leading to a 3-2 win.
Fitzgerald has three goals in two games with six points through his first six games of the season. He has already established himself as an important offensive player for a Greyhounds team that has gotten off to a strong start.
Fitzgerald was selected by the Blues with the 203rd overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. If he can maintain his early offensive production, he could become an intriguing prospect to follow throughout the OHL season.
Carter Stevens
Carter Stevens has also started the season well with the Guelph Storm. The Blues’ 2026 fifth-round pick has recorded one goal and three assists through his first five games for four points.
Stevens had a productive stretch early in the season, scoring against the Oshawa Generals before recording two assists in Guelph’s 5-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack. He was held off the scoresheet in the Storm’s 4-2 win over Windsor on Oct. 2, but remains among Guelph’s early scoring leaders.
The 18-year-old forward will have plenty of time to develop at the junior level, but his early production is a positive sign for a player the Blues selected in the fifth round this summer.
Dmitri Buchelnikov
Dmitri Buchelnikov has also been producing in the KHL to start the season. The Blues prospect scored twice during the week, finding the back of the net against SKA on Sept. 29 and Dynamo Moscow on Oct. 3.
Buchelnikov’s first goal came during CSKA Moscow’s wild 6-5 victory over SKA. After being held off the scoresheet against Dynamo Minsk, he scored again against Dynamo Moscow, helping CSKA force a shootout before eventually winning the game.
The strong stretch adds to an encouraging start for Buchelnikov, who scored 14 goals and 25 points in 44 KHL games last season. His continued offensive production could make him one of the more interesting Blues prospects to follow overseas this season.
