Steve Ott Diagnosed with Colitis

The St. Louis Blues announced Wednesday evening that forward Steve Ott has been diagnosed with Colitis, an inflammation of the lining of the colon.

Ott will be held out for at least two weeks. He’ll be re-evaluated at that time.

The Prince Edward Island native has been out of the lineup since Dec. 5, when an awkward crash into the boards left him with two injured hamstrings that required surgery.

He had recently returned to practice and was approaching a return to game play, when the team made this announcement.

The 33-year-old depth winger has missed the last 53 games. He was an agitating force in a disappointing first-round playoff loss to the Minnesota Wild last season. This is his second full season in St. Louis after being acquired from the Buffalo Sabres in a trade during the 2013-14 season.
