Watch: David Legwand Scores From Own Zone

Nothing has to mess with a goaltender’s head more than a bouncing puck coming straight on.

On Friday night, Columbus Blue Jackets netminder Joonas Korpisalo had to deal with exactly that during his team’s contest against the Buffalo Sabres. With a little over 90 seconds remaining in the opening period, Sabres forward David Legwand decided to just shoot the puck down the ice in order to help kill the Columbus power play.

The puck flew down the ice, took a nice hop between the faceoff circles, and beat Korpisalo to put the Sabres up 2-0. Buffalo would go on to win the game by a score of 4-0, and Korpisalo finished with 27 saves on 31 shots.

The Sabres have now won three of their last four games, and now have more points this season (55) than they did for the entire 2014-15 season (54).
