Report: Maple Leafs Sign Brad Boyes

In camp on a professional tryout contract, Brad Boyes appears to be the last man standing in the slew of PTOs the Maple Leafs brought in.

The Leafs are signing Boyes to a contract, according to The Globe & Mail’s James Mirtle. The contract is for a single year and is worth $700,000, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

Boyes becomes a part of the One-Year Contract Army in Toronto who are all on prove-it deals that will either see them become a part of the team’s future or, more likely, see them traded to a contending team later in the year after they get some good ice time in solid situations on a very thin roster.

The 33-year-old right wing put up 14 goals and 24 assists for the Florida Panthers last year before having his contract bought out by the team who is looking to get behind their young core.

The news on Boyes comes shortly after it was revealed that Devin Setoguchi and Curtis Glencross would be released from their PTOs.
